Media utilized in anti smoking campaigns on several themes. While some are hitting on the adverse effects around the smoker. Others feature non-smokers who are also considered as a victim of this phenomenon. These classifications are from the bystanders around the smokers which serves as a second hand or passive smokers, to the fetuses devastatingly affected, if not killed by cigarette’s deadly substances. Others feature a clean environment and community, citing the right of every person to an environment devoid of air pollution. They are attacking them in reversed psychology.

The prior years of the 20th century saw the growth of the pioneering anti smoking campaigns telling smokers to give up their addiction. Since evidences were not enough to prove that cigarettes and tobaccos are not healthy, the anti smoking campaign messages focuses mainly on the moralistic and hygienic concerns in relation to smoking.

On the latter years, however, with ample scientific evidences backing them up, and to jumpstart the emotional and logical thinking of smokers, majority of the anti smoking campaigns dealt in to the multiple adverse effects of smoking on the smoker himself.
